Dar Tafouyte is a guesthouse nestled in the mesmerizing landscapes of southern Morocco, a region that offers a diverse tapestry of adventure and tranquility. From the rugged Atlas Mountains to the secluded oases and ancient Berber villages, southern Morocco beckons travelers seeking an authentic escape from bustling urban destinations.
Our strategic location places Dar Tafouyte at the heart of the Sahara Desert experience. Situated in the charming Takoujte village, alongside the majestic Erg Chebbi Dunes, our guesthouse boasts breathtaking views of the expansive desert vistas. This small village, perched atop a hill, has a rich history steeped in Berber tradition. Legend has it that the warmth and hospitality we embrace today originate from an old villager’s benevolence, a testament to the enduring spirit of Berber culture.
Merzouga, the well-known Moroccan village in the Meknes-Tafilalet region, is the gateway to the magnificent Erg Chebbi Dunes and is conveniently located just 1km from our desert retreat. These awe-inspiring dunes, perfect for camel trekking, are an unmissable part of any Moroccan journey. Stretching across a 30km radius, they rank as the largest dunes in southern Morocco, renowned for their unique energy and the famous “Bains de sable,” or sand baths. The tallest dune among them reaches an impressive height of around 200 meters!
