4X4 Tours Around Merzouga And South Morocco
While you are staying and relaxing in the desert, it is natural that you want to know the Merzouga region to get the whole immersion in the culture sensation. For that reason, we organize 4×4 tours around Merzouga, showing you our vast desert as well as ancient fortified villages or more modern ones, some souks, old trade routes,… But we also take our 4WD vehicles farther into south Morocco to present you natural beauties as you have never seen.
4×4 Excursion All Around Erg Chebbi Dunes
This day 4×4 tour in the Sahara Desert visits the Erg Chebbi Dunes in an all-around tour of the dunes themselves. We visit places like the ancient mines of Mfis, the Gnawa village of Khamliya, Tisserdine, Hassilabied Oasis, and drive back to Merzouga.
4×4 Excursion to Rissani and Erfoud
In this 4×4 day excursion in the Sahara Desert, we will visit Rissani’s ancient camel caravan route, which once upon a time was part of the most important commercial trade route in North Africa. The Siljimassa trail connected Marrakech to Timbuktu, in Mali. We will visit Rissani’s market, Moulay Ali Cherif Mausoleum, the kasbah route. Visiting Erfoud and its marvelous fossils beds, we will explore the Ksar of Maadid. At the end of the day, we drive back to Merzouga.
4×4 Excursion to Gorges du Todra
Departing from Merzouga once again for this 1-day tour, we will explore the south of Morocco until we reach the amazing Gorges du Todra, the high canyons only 120km away from the Erg Chebbi Dunes. On our way there and back to Merzouga, the scenery will be all about rocky valleys and endless palm groves.
4X4 Tours From Marrakech To Merzouga
A lot of visitors in Morocco land at Marrakech airport and spend a few days in this mesmerizing city. However, many of these visitors would also like to get out of the big city and discover the open spaces of south Morocco. They want to see the mountains, the valleys, the rock formations, and, of course, the Sahara Desert. Dar Tafouyte offers 4×4 tours starting in Marrakech and brings visitors to the desert in Merzouga along the most unbelievable landscapes.
4×4 Circuit Marrakech to Merzouga – 3 Days, 2 Nights
Day 1 – Marrakech, Ouarzazate, Gorges du Dadès: Departure from Marrakech early in the morning towards Ouarzazate. Visit of the Ksar of Aït Ben Haddou. Drive along the Valley of Roses in direction of the Gorges du Dadès. Overnight in a Riad.
Day 2 – Gorges du Dadès, Gorges du Todra, Merzouga: Visit of the Tinghir Palmery. Drive to Erfoud, Rissani, and arrival at Merzouga in the afternoon. Camel trekking at sunset to spend the night in a nomad tent in the heart of the Erg Chebbi Dunes. Dinner and animation under the light of a million desert stars.
Day 3 – Merzouga, Agdez, Marrakech: Continental breakfast after sunrise still on the dunes. Returning to our 4×4 vehicles, crossing of the Draa Valley and the Col de Tichka (mountain pass 2260m high) in direction of Marrakech. End of the 4×4 tour.

Day 1 – Marrakech, Ksar of Aït Ben Haddou, Valley of Roses, Gorges du Dadès: Departure from Marrakech and crossing of the Col de Tichka. Arrival at the Ksar of Aït Ben Haddou and visit of the fortified city.
